Astronomy Students gain International Experience

Students in an Ohio University Zanesville Survey of Astronomy class taught by Gabriela Popa, associate professor, participated in a COIL (Collaborative Online Interactive Learning) course with students from Mexico. Popa and her collaborator, Elvira Morgado from the Biology School at Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico adapted their respective curriculums to provide an international component to their courses. The students worked on projects, which they posted and presented using Trello and Facebook, allowing them to present, respond to questions and receive feedback. Those who participated are pictured here with Zanesville Campus Dean, Jeremy Webster, front left, and Popa front right. Students who participated include front row Madison Smith and Cassie Harpe; second row from left Jensen Israel, Chelsey Gockenbach, Kirsten Lahna, and Parker Evans; third row from left: Sean Dopp, Cailey Azbell, Anastasia Neff, Jacie Fondriest, Leandra Bliss, Alea Hankinson,  Laryssa Cain, and Zavin Orr; and fourth row from left Trey Lutz, Tyler Brown, and Coulter McDermott.
