Zanesville Campus Shark Team 2018
April 25, 2018 : Students take Top Prize at Shark Event

Ohio University Zanesville Applied Management students take top prize at Shark Event

Ohio University Zanesville’s team from second from left, Connor Church, Megan Church, and Michelle Illing won the $1,500 prize for their first place finish in the Shark Challenge held  at Ohio University Eastern in St. Clairsville. The team was coached by Assistant Professor of Applied Management at Ohio University Zanesville, Dr. Darci Wagner, far left.

The judges, Denise Penz of Home Savings Bank, Megan Cook of Mustang Oilfield Services, and Lou Gentile of Vorys Advisors and formerly a member of the Ohio State Senate, were impressed with the students’ proposal for a not-for-profit organization to be called ‘Lifted’ (Lifetime Education), which would provide short-term educational courses outside of the traditional classroom environment to high school students in Southeastern Ohio with the mission of elevating students through experiences, career choices, and equal opportunities to build better character and better serve their community.

The event’s coordinator, Michael Schor, a member of both the Zanesville and Eastern faculty said, “The recognition of the excellence of these students in identifying a need and presenting a convincing proposal is a source of pride to our university community.” For more information on the Ohio University Eastern Shark challenge, email ouesharkteam@ohio.edu.
