Mentoring

Mentoring programs are helpful for mentees and mentors alike. We invite you to consider becoming a mentor through either of our programs.

Mentoring Women Program

A two semester-long program, mentees are paired with a female mentor in their personal and professional fields of interest during the Fall semester. Mentors and mentees decide on the format of their mentoring relationship and the time commitment they wish to make. In addition to building a mentoring relationship, participating students and mentors have the opportunity to attend programs and activities focused on career and personal development. Interested mentors and mentees should apply in the Spring semester prior to the year that they would like to participate. This program requires a commitment of a full academic year.

Young Women Leaders Program

The Young Women Leaders Program builds competence, autonomy and connection. A collaboration between the OHIO University’s Women’s Center and Athens Middle School, the Young Women’s Leader Program (YWLP) is an innovative mentoring program designed to empower middle school girls and college women to be leaders and to make positive choices based on their interactions as mentors and peers. Interested mentors should enroll in PCOE 2301C during the Fall semester for training in order to be considered as a mentor for a seventh or eighth grade girl. This program requires a commitment for the full academic year.
