2020 Caregiver Awardees
Erica Williams, Administrative Services Associate, Development
Erica Williams joined Ohio University in January 2019 as an Administrative Services Associate for University Advancement in Development. She provides high-level administrative support for the Senior Associate Vice President of Development and Campaign Director and his leadership team. Additionally, she assists the Assistant Vice President of Communications and Chief of Staff with HR support for the Division of Advancement. Prior to working at Ohio University, Erica worked as an HR Specialist for a local staffing agency in Athens. She graduated from Kent State University in 2010 with a BA in English and Certificate in Nonprofit Human Service Management. Erica resides in Athens, OH with her son, Logan, and her husband, Brandon. In her spare time, Erica enjoys singing and dancing around the house with her son, reading books, and spending time with friends and family.
Janice M. Wright, Assistant Clinical Professor, Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders, College of Health Sciences and Professions
Janice M. Wright, MA CCC-SLP, is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She is the Director of Clinical Education for Speech Pathology and Co-Director of the Botswana Rehabilitation Service Learning Program. Janice’s areas of interest are pediatric feeding disorders and clinical supervision. She has been an invited presenter on these topics across the United States as well as abroad. She teaches a Pediatric Feeding Disorders class to speech pathology graduate students and supervises graduate students providing feeding assessment and intervention to children with feeding disorders. Janice also serves as a Site Visitor for the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
As a trainer for the Ohio Violence Prevention Program, the Developing Family Connections Program and the Bridges Out of Poverty Program, Janice brings to her students the perspective of working with the whole person not just the disability. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Janice is married to Reggie Robinson, a prevention specialist with Health Recovery Services. Reggie is usually known by his alter ego “Rockin’ Reggie, the DJ”. Janice serves as his roadie on the weekends. She enjoys paper crafting and travel as stress management activities.
2019 Caregiver Awardees
Megan Borer, Master Teacher, Ohio University Child Development Center
Megan A. Borer is a Master Teacher at the Ohio University Child Development Center. She teaches in an Infant Classroom while mentoring college students on how to care for and educate this age group through guided instruction and thoughtful reflection. Additionally, she pursued a Master’s Degree to continue working with future educators to help them understand how much of an impact they can be have on children and their communities. She works endlessly to create, build, and maintain positive relationships with her students and each of their families; this is one of the most rewarding pieces of her job. She loves her work and each day she is reminded that being a teacher is who she was meant to be.
Kristin "KC" Waltz, MSW, LISW, Advocate, Survivor Advocacy Program
I cannot think of a better honor than to be given the Caregiver Award. I come from a long line of exemplary caretakers, I have been truly blessed. In my personal life I am lucky to be the single mom and sole caretaker of an amazing son. I walked by his side through a number of childhood traumas, with him emerging on the other side- a resilient, kind, compassionate, super hero of a young man. As a musician, I realized the curative powers of music and made it a priority to provide opportunities for him to experience and learn music. When finances were tight, taking advantage of free and low cost options for music education. Professionally, I am a Social Worker and Advocate. My caring is not reserved for my family and friends; it is my calling. I began social work in 1990 and have spent the majority of my career in adolescent mental health. Now I am serving in the Survivor Advocacy program where many of my clients are physically removed from their family and they need the care and support of an advocate.
2018 Caregiver Awardees
Teresa Bartlett
Teresa Bartlett grew up in Albany, Ohio, and have lived in Athens County her entire life. After graduating high school, she worked for a local attorney before being hired at Ohio University in 1988. She has been employed in University College her entire 29 years at Ohio University and is an executive assistant in the Dean’s office. She has been named Classified Employee of the Month twice. She is married to Dave Hamill who retired from Ohio University in 2009. All of her time away from work is spent caring for her elderly parents. Her goal is to help them remain in their home as long as possible instead of moving them to a nursing or assisted living facility. She will never regret the many hours spent caring for her parents because they gave her a wonderful childhood and she is grateful.
Amanda Graham
Amanda Graham joined Ohio University at the beginning of 2012 as a part-time administrative assistant in the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost. Since then, she has worked her way up and currently serves as Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion. A first generation college student, Amanda earned her Associate of Applied Business in 2011 and will graduate this spring with a Bachelor of Specialized Studies degree, with concentrations in History and English, and a War and Peace Studies Certificate. After graduation, she plans to pursue a masters in organizational communication. Amanda is dedicated and passionate about her work within Diversity and Inclusion. Not only does she have four children of her own, ranging in ages from fourteen to two, but also has 25 bonus kids that she supervises in the Multicultural Leadership Ambassador program. Amanda has done more than just supervise the ambassadors, she has created an environment where they can bond and support one another through challenges they may face. She has created a family within the program. In addition to her work in Diversity and Inclusion, Amanda is a strong advocate for classified employees. She has served on Classified Senate and begins her role as chair in July.
2017 Caregiver Awardees
Coleen Dietsch-Krubl
Coleen Dietsch-Krubl is a Research Associate at the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service. She currently serves as a PEER (Planning, Education, Evaluation and Research)Team member, managing applied research projects related to education, health and economic development. Prior to joining the Voinovich School, Ms. Krubl served as Director of Health Initiatives for the American Cancer Society – Ohio Division. During her tenure, Krubl oversaw prevention and wellness programs and services and provided technical assistance and training across the state. She also served as the lead liaison for the division to other state and national health organizations and was the Society's representative on a variety of multi-disciplinary, multi-agency task forces. As Executive Director of ReUse Industries, Ms. Krubl provided program leadership and development related to the environmental health services and programs offered by the organization. She has also implemented and managed an Ohio Department of Health program, Early Start of Hocking County, which served families with children at-risk for developmental delays. A graduate of the University of Toledo, Ms. Krubl earned a bachelor of arts in psychology. She resides in Athens, Ohio with her son, daughter and their Siberian husky. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, biking, picnicking and enjoying the great outdoors with her children.
Elizabeth Lehman
Elizabeth Lehman attended Marietta College and earned her BA in Organizational Communications while part of the selective McDonough Leadership Program. She has begun her MA in Organizational Communications at Ohio University, where she has been employed for 7 years. For the last three, Elizabeth has served as the Events Specialist for the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has been highlighted as a leader in her field, through national award nominations and conference presentation. Elizabeth is the mother of Violet, Blake, and Paige and the wife of David Grounds, a full time student in the College of Business.
