Engaging Coastal Decision-Makers at Lake Erie’s National Estuarine Research Reserve

March 4, 2021

Translating scientific research to practical application is no easy feat, a task made more challenging when the application relies upon the efforts of multiple different audiences. The Ohio Coastal Training Program works to engage professionals ranging from the stormwater and construction industry, to natural resource managers, to private coastal property owners and communicate their role in safeguarding Ohio’s most valuable natural resource: Lake Erie. This presentation will talk about how a background in biological sciences and wildlife research can influence a career in social science, communications, and conservation in action.
