Laura Alloway provides strategic leadership for the conceptualization, development and execution of internal and external marketing, communications, branding and public relations on behalf of the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs.
Before joining the Voinovich School, Laura worked at nearby Hocking College for five years. Originally hired as Marketing Director at Hocking College in April 2010, she was quickly promoted to Director of Marketing and Public Relations in January 2011. Laura implemented the college’s first marketing and branding campaign, which earned two district first place Medallion Awards and two national first place Paragon gold awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) for Community Colleges. She was also responsible for launching the college’s extremely active social media presence, designing and writing content for the website, and managing all strategic internal and external communications and media relations.
She has extensive experience in marketing and public relations for service industries. Prior to joining Hocking College, Laura served as the Director of Practice Development (Marketing Director) for Bricker & Eckler LLP, a corporate law firm in Columbus, Ohio with approximately 110 attorneys and many diverse practice areas.
Laura worked for Compensation Consultants Inc., a workers’ compensation third party administrator, for nine years as Marketing Director, while also working for their sister company, a corporate health insurance brokerage. She started her career at the Ohio Optometric Association as a Meetings Assistant. Her primary responsibility was to develop and coordinate the first Ohio-based national continuing education optometric conference for 2,000 attendees, earning an award for Achievement in Meeting Planning from the Ohio Society of Association Executives.
Laura has a Master of Business Administration from Ohio University and a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.
