Best College Reviews ranked Ohio University's Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs’ online master of public administration (MPA) program concentration in nonprofit management 7th nationally, in the Top 35 Online Master’s in Nonprofit Management.

The MPA program teaches students the fundamentals of public administration and public service to prepare them for careers in public, private and nonprofit organizations. Students can graduate from the online program in two years and seek work in state, local and federal government, legislature, NGOs, nonprofit organizations and more.

“The MPA program has always set a high standard for both enrollment and the methods in which we educate our students,” said Alexander Murray, director of online academic programs and senior lecturer at the Voinovich School. “As a School, we work extremely hard to provide our students with relevant coursework and leadership development, as well as the right faculty and pedagogical strategies to support their goal of obtaining a quality MPA degree.”

Murray said that Voinovich School's MPA program stands out because the students are assigned real-world problems that are integrated into the curriculum. Additionally, the program’s competitive price gives it an advantage over other similar programs in our region and around the U.S..

Best College Reviews based rankings on tuition costs, ranking from U.S. News and World Report, format and content options, and the "wow factor," a unique feature that impressed the reviewers. Affordability was used to break ties.

The Voinovich School is committed to developing professionals and providing flexible opportunities to educate students without compromising on our core values and overall learning outcomes for those enrolled in the online degree program,” Murray said.

Murray said this ranking reinforces that the program is deeply committed to continuing the growth of the Appalachian economy.

Our MPA graduates are gaining skills to support economic development initiatives in Southeast Ohio and beyond,” Murray said. “They will contribute to public service and budgeting processes, as well as provide leadership through effective organizational strategy for change and growth.”

In March, Guide to Online Schools ranked the MPA program as the 18th Best Online Master’s Public Administration Degrees. The Voinovich School continues to rank as a top public affairs graduate school for 2020, according to U.S. News and World Report.

The Voinovich School has a strong reputation as a catalyst for economic growth and opportunity, social impact and sustainability, and leadership and community building in Appalachian Ohio and other areas in which alumni reside.

Graduate programs include the Master of Science in Environmental Studies and the Master of Public Administration.  The MPA is offered in three formats including an Executive MPA, designed for working professionals offered at OHIO’s Dublin Center, an exclusively online MPA and a traditional campus-based MPA, available to complete in just one year.

“We must continue to offer students a sound combination of theoretical knowledge and applied learning necessary for employment in public, private and nonprofit organizations,” Murray said. “In doing so, the program rankings and a great reputation is inevitable.”
