Dr. Ann Laudati is a broadly trained Human-Environmental Geographer. Her research focuses on natural resource violence, illicit economies, and livelihood security. Since 2009, she has been conducting qualitative fieldwork in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo to understand the linkages between struggles over natural resources and (in)security in the region. Prior to coming to Ohio University, she taught on the faculties of the University of California-Berkeley, the University of Bristol, and Utah State University. Currently she is finishing a two-year research associate position through UC-Berkeley in which she is looking at how the transition to legalization is unfolding for producers in California's newly regulated cannabis industry.
