The Ohio University Combat Veterans Club (CVC) is collaborating with the Ohio Health O'Bleness Memorial Hospital Race for a Reason to raise funds for the Athens Country Children Services School Outreach Program at The Plains Elementary School. The school outreach program places a case-worker in each of the county's school districts; however, The Plains Elementary School will be the focus of the CVC's fundraising effort.
Of the children attending the school, an overwhelming 73% of them live in a household that is at, or below, poverty level. Therefore, many of them are in need of school supplies, clothing and even some nutritious snacks. All funds raised will be make available to the School Outreach Program's licensed social worker appointed to the school as she has the greatest insight as to how such funds should be prioritized to provide the greatest benefit to these children.
