National & State Veterans Organizations
  • American Veterans (AMVETS) : This is one of America's foremost veterans services organizations. They are best known for the work of their National Service Officers (NSO) who help veterans file claims with the VA.
  • Disabled American Veterans (DAV) : This non-profit organization works to better the lives on American veterans who are disabled.
  • Ohio American Veterans (AMVETS) : This is for Ohio veterans and is one of America’s foremost veterans services organizations. They are best known for the work of their National Service Officers (NSO) who help veterans file claims with the VA.
  • Student Veterans of America (SVA):  This organization serves as a coalition of student veterans groups from college campuses across the United States. Ohio University has a chapter of SVA on campus. To get involved, contact Peter Bronner at pb124614@ohio.edu.
  • The American Legion:  This is the nation's largest veteran service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security and continued devotion to fellow service members and veterans.
  • The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW):  This organization has a rich tradition in enhancing the lives on millions through its community service programs and special projects.

  • Veteran Tickets Foundation's Tickets for Troops Program : Is dedicated to giving back to those who gave so much.  They team up with major sports teams, leagues, promoters, organizations, venues and every day event ticket holders to provide free and discounted tickets to currently sereving and veterans of all branches of the US military.
  • Veterans and Mesothelioma : For those veterans with mesothelioma and asbestos lung cancer can receive full financial benefits from the VA.
  • Veteran Recruitment Center :  Designed to offer career fairs to companies looking to hire veterans.
  • Vets 4 Warriors:  Vets 4 Warriors is a free and confidential support system for veterans. They provide support via email, live chat, or telephone. All support staff are veterans although this service is not affiliated directly with the military or the VA.
