Janet Russell is Ohio University’s School Certifying Official for the Brigadier General James M. Abraham & Colonel Arlene F. Greenfield Veterans and Military Student Services Center. She was a West Virginia Army National Guard Spouse for 31 years. She has 20 plus years in the medical profession. She came to Ohio University in a temporary/full time position with The College of Health Science and Professions Student Services in 2012. In July, 2013 she accepted the position of Records Management Assistant in the Office of the University Registrar. In July, 2014 she accepted the position she now currently holds as Records Management Specialist as the School Certifying Official for the Veterans and Military Student Services Center. Her primary duties include certifying enrollment of all Veteran and military dependent students using VA educational benefits, ensuring Veteran and dependent students using VA education benefits take classes that meet a degree requirement, and Supervisor of the Veterans Center Student Work Study Program. Her personal interests include spending time with family and her grandson Aden, as well as walking and reading.
Julio Cesar Flores Vega is a VA work study student currently pursuing a Bachelors in Specialized Studies in Counter-terrorism and Global Security. He is a United States Marine Corps Veteran who served for 13 years between 2001-2014. He became a student at Ohio University in the fall of 2015 and is currently the Vice President for the Combat Veterans Club (CVC). His main focus at the Veterans and Military Services Center is to provide great customer service while providing accurate information regarding VA benefits. His personal interests include riding motorcycles, fitness, reading and coaching. He is married to his beautiful wife, Jasmine, and has two beautiful children, Gabriel and Adaline.
Jordan Kelley is a VA work student student currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design. She is a military dependent, as her father is currently serving in the United States Navy. She is a co-founder of the Military Dependents Club as well as being a member of other clubs/organizations including: the AIGA Chapter at Ohio University and Phi Chapter of the Kappa Phi Club. Her personal interests include photography, listening to music, sports, drawing, and watching movies.
Chris O'Connell is a VA work student student currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Engineering Technology and Management. He has been serving in the Ohio Army National Guard as a unit supply specialist since 2013. He is an active member of the Student Veterans of America club. His role at the Veterans and Military Services Center is to provide great customer service while providing accurate information regarding VA benefits. His hobbies include golfing, fitness, and sleeping (when he gets the rare chance).
Tori Ullmann is a VA work study student currently purusing a Bachelors degree in Strategic Communication, with a specialization in Music Marketing, and a minor in Spanish. Her father is currently serving in the Ohio Army National Guard. She is a co-founder of Ohio University's Military Dependents Club and she is a member of various other student organizations including: All Campus Radio Network, Brick City Records, Women in the Music Industry, and ImPRessions. She is also a Learning Community Leader for the Veterans and Dependents Learning Community. In her free time she enjoys live music and drinking too much coffee.
Jon Deitner is a VA work study student currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Aviation Flight with minors in Business and Meteorology. he has been at Ohio University since the Fall of 2014 and has worked in the Veterans and Military Student Services Center since May 2015. His main priority is helping military-affiliated students understand their VA education benefits and guiding them through receiving the benefits they are entitled. In the future, he hopes to become a flight instructor for Ohio University and eventually become a corporate or airline pilot. His interests including cooking, hammocking, fishing, and domesticating squirrels.
Zachary Wood is a VA work study student currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Aviation Flight. He is a veteran of the United States Navy, having served eight years from 2006 to 2015. He began attending classes at Ohio University in the summer of 2015 and is the current treasurer of the Combat Veterans Club. His interests includ physical fitness, manual labor and fixing things.
