Accessibility Services

Accessibility at Ohio University means collectively working toward the creation of inclusive experiences for all members of our community. Inclusion and accessibility begins with providing transparent information about our institution as we continue to work toward our aspirations.

Ohio University embraces access and inclusion as the responsibility of our entire community, however Accessibility Services is the primary point of leadership and accountability. We work to achieve access and inclusion through multiple approaches:

  • Disability and accessibility planning and partnerships
  • Provision of accommodations and services for people with disabilities who are students, employees, and members of the public
  • Supporting departments and employees in the implementation of accessible and inclusive practices

The Accessibility Services website has been designed to support these approaches, but there is only so much you can learn from a website. Questions or concerns regarding disability and accessibility at Ohio University are always welcomed.

Our Mission

The mission of Accessibility Services is to ensure equal opportunity and access for members of the Ohio University community. Central to this mission is the development of an academic environment that is accessible to all people without the need for adaptation. While working toward the goal of full inclusion, accommodations must still be provided on an individual basis.

Accessibility Services coordinates accommodations and connects students with disabilities to the most relevant campus resources. Accessibility coordinators review documentation and determine eligibility according to the framework of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
