Sign Up for Orientation

Students admitted for the summer will attend orientation with their peers admitted for fall on the dates listed in the sections below. The process for orientation and course registration for summer admits is as follows:

1. Summer start students will receive an email with a form to request an advising appointment for summer and they should submit that form as soon as possible. Students will not be able to complete registration until after May 1, but the form should be completed before then to start the process of setting up an advising appointment. 
2. After completing the form, they should sign-up for any of the dates listed below as a first-year student or transfer student. The sign-up link can be found at the bottom of this page.
3. Beginning May 1, students will complete the Pre-BSO modules, which must be finished before meeting with an academic advisor.
4. Between May 2 and May 10, summer admits will meet with an academic advisor in their program and register for courses for summer and/or fall. BSO staff will connect you with your academic college to setup this advising appointment after completion of the request form mentioned above. If your summer course schedule conflicts with the BSO program you originally signed up for and you'd like to change your program date, please contact the BSO team. If you have a time conflict due to a particular class, arrangements will be made with the BSO team to ensure you are able to attend that class and still participate in the scheduled orientation program.
5. Finally, you will attend the orientation program to fulfill the requirement.

Transfer student orientation will take place in-person on the Athens campus on Tuesday, May 28th and Thursday, June 20th from 8 am - 5 pm. Students are expected to be in attendance for the duration of the program. The sign-up link can be found at the bottom of this page.

A virtual program on June 27 is available but only used for extenuating circumstances. Students who think this is the best option for them or who may otherwise have difficulty in attending an in person program in Athens, should complete this Virtual BSO Request Form. Our staff will respond to requests in 7-10 business days with information on next steps to sign-up.

Available program dates for first-year students are based on your intended major or academic program. Dates are listed below and organized by major. The sign-up link can be found at the bottom of this page. Space on each date is limited and the system will only allow sign-up for dates that still have capacity. If you are planning to attend orientation with someone who has a different major, please review the available dates for each major to find common dates for both majors before signing up. If you do not see your major in the table below, have concerns about your availability for the dates listed for your major or program, or have concerns about the dates still available for sign-up, please email us at orientation@ohio.edu. If you change your major after signing-up, email orientation@ohio.edu to discuss potential date changes that may be necessary.

Day 1 of our first-year programs begins early in the morning with check-in and Day 2 of the program wraps up before noon. Students are expected to be in attendance for the duration of the program.
