New Search Platform Improves Functionality and Security

Searching across all OHIO subsites has been enhanced with the implementation of a platform called Funnelback for Higher Education, which replaced the Swiftype engine that had been in place.

Funnelback utilizes machine learning to adjust search results over time, and its enhanced security features have eliminated the need for users to engage the CAPTCHA widget before conducting  "People" searches on ohio.edu.

Funnelback searches can also be filtered to focus on specific content, such as news stories, faculty and staff names, and embedded videos.

While the platform has already been adjusted to include key OHIO search terms and will update over time based on a search algorithm, in instances where a term fails to list the expected results, users can email webcontent@ohio.edu so further adjustments can be considered through the search optimization process.

Collapsible Sections Are Now Available on All Sites

On modular pages, the field labeled Row Classes have been made available to all publishers.

This field, which had previously been available to publishers in a limited number of groups, now enables all publishers to set up collapsible sections on pages that merit this display treatment. The collapsible feature only functions on modular pages, however.

Button Link Options Updated for Clarity

In the Styles menu of the text editor toolbar, dropdown options for links have been updated to make the styling options more clear. When a link is selected for styling, users can select a green or white button, or the all-caps Action Link.
