Each year, University Communications and Marketing (UCM) produces projects that advance Ohio University’s standing among the premier institutions of higher education. This portfolio highlights a few of the many projects that have resulted from our partnerships with clients across the University.
And here’s a notable fact: In terms of the scope of our potential audience, UCM’s communication initiatives resulted in 68.8 million media impressions in FY 2011–12.
As part of a Compass series, UCM produced Quarters-to-Semesters (Q2S) videos on a range of topics related to Ohio University’s transition to a new academic calendar. The series addressed student concerns and contained tips and reminders aimed at facilitating their academic progress. Learn more
UCM collaborates with Undergraduate Admissions each year to produce recruitment materials for prospective students. These thematically linked print, video, and Web projects have helped recruit an increasing number of outstanding students in recent years while broadening the scope of OHIO’s enrollment efforts to reach more out-of-state prospects. UCM offers many types of student opportunities, including PACE positions, work-study, semester internship experiences, and graduate assistantships. Students who work at UCM hone their skills under the mentorship of professional staff. Students gain valuable experience working on projects ranging from Web, video, and print to news and media relations. Learn more
UCM helps tell the story of OHIO’s contribution to the region. “Appalachia Rising,” a strategic series appearing in Compass (the UCM-produced online news source for Ohio University), received global recognition in the Ragan Employee Communications Awards. The series highlighted the impacts of OHIO programs and initiatives that elevate lives across the region. Learn more
UCM maintains the online Expert Directory, which simplifies finding Ohio University’s best research minds on a variety of topics. The directory is an especially useful tool for external news media and an effective vehicle for promoting OHIO’s many outstanding departments and programs through the expertise of faculty and staff. Looking for information about official University logos, colors, or e-mail signatures? Ohio University’s brand standards help to elevate OHIO’s profile through a consistent, unified approach to messaging. UCM maintains these standards through an ongoing “Branding OHIO” feature in Compass as well as a website that features a brand manual, templates for Microsoft PowerPoint® and Microsoft Word®, and other resources.
