Social Media Tools

Guidelines and Best Practices

Social media has made it easier than ever to communicate with audiences all over the world. But just because these tools are available doesn’t mean you have to use them—or should. To be most effective, social media should be undertaken as part of a well-thought-out communications plan. Click here (doc) To get tips on planning, launching, and maintaining social media accounts. You also can visit the Social Media Directory page and download the guidelines document.

Social Media Directory

An official list of Ohio University of social media accounts by department can be found here. If your unit needs to add or edit social media account information on the directory, contact Gabrielle Johnston at johnstog@ohio.edu.

Social Media Icons

University Communications and Marketing has developed some enhanced versions of icons for popular social media applications.

These icons have been specially created in colors reflecting the OHIO brand guidelines and are available in green, gray, or white for use on official Ohio University websites and social media pages.
