As stated on the Jefferson Garage permits, permit holders should be prepared to move their vehicle from Jefferson Garage if flooding becomes a concern. Parking Services determines the areas in which Jefferson Garage permits will be honored when evacuation from this Garage is deemed necessary. If flooding becomes a concern, Parking Services should be contacted at 740-593-1917 to determine alternative parking areas.
Permit Replacement Policy
Permit Holders are highly encouraged to lock and secure their vehicles at all times. Unfortunately, permits are stolen due to the parking areas they allow and the monetary value in which they carry. Treat your permit as if it is cash and keep it secure at all times.
Permits Reported as Lost or Stolen - Replacement Policy:
If a permit has been lost or stolen, it must be reported as such immediately to Parking Services. It is the responsibility of the customer to report their permit in a timely fashion and obtain a replacement permit to avoid citations associated with parking in areas without a permit.
- First Instance (Lost or Stolen): Replaced at no charge to the customer one time during a 12 month period. Permits reported as lost or stolen are no longer valid, and any vehicle displaying a lost or stolen permit is subject to a fine for Illegal Use and associated boot fees.
- Second Instance: If a customer's permit has been lost or stolen more than once in a 12 month period, the customer must purchase their replacement. The fee is consistent with the sales rate at the time of purchase.
- Third Instance: If a customer's permit has been lost or stolen more than twice in a 12 month period, the customer may not obtain a replacement for that school year.
Pattern of Abuse
Permit replacements are offered as a customer service measure to assist customers who truly lose their permits or it's stolen from their vehicles. However, if a pattern of reports is identified with a particular customer, the above-mentioned policy is superseded by the following:
- A pattern of reporting permits as lost or stolen is defined as any customer who has reported a permit as lost or stolen more than twice in a one-year period or once each school year more than two years consecutively.
- Once a pattern has been identified, the customer will not be permitted to obtain a campus parking permit (for free or with an associated fee) for a one-year period.
