Sustainability Reporting

PROGRESS AND INITIATIVES | SUPPLEMENTAL DATA | ARCHIVED REPORTS

Ohio University submits a number of internal and external reports on sustainability achievements and goals annually.

Externally, Ohio University reports to the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS) through the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).  Through that report, we are participating in reports to the Princeton Review and Sierra Club.  Additionally, as a signatory to the American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), Ohio University submits annual greenhouse gas inventory reports.

Internally, OHIO genereates regular reports on its Sustainability Plan and Climate Action Plan.

In an effort to manage the workload of such a diverse array or reporting, the following calendar of reporting is currently in place:
Annual Reports: ACUPCC and greenhouse gas inventory
Tri-Annual Reports: STARS (2015, 2018, etc.), Climate Action Plan (2016, 2019, etc.) and Sustainability Plan (2017, 2020, etc.)

Though, continual conversations about progress, roadblocks, opportunities and strengths occur through the Sustainable Ohio University Leaders (SOUL) meetings.  There are approximately 5 SOUL meetings each semester so members of the campus community can rally around our sustainability-related commitments and cirtically analyze progress and next steps.   The structure and intentions of SOUL are provided below.

Progress and Initiatives

To ensure that we are promoting the requirements of the Sustainability Plan and Climate Action Plan in our campus-wide efforts, four sub-categories of SOUL were developed, dividing the topics evenly into comprehensive groups. Each sub-group has within it approximately 9 benchmarks, which are grouped according to category and, thus, more easily tracked and managed. Within each benchmark, there are a varying number if initiatives we conduct and promote in order to ensure that we are reaching the goals of said benchmark. To learn about our progress on these initiatives, follow the links below:

Energy Efficiency

Benchmarks 1*- 4, 12, 19, 21, 25, 29
