Summer Law & Trial Institute hosted by the Center for Law, Justice, & Culture and the College of Arts & Sciences
When: June 13-21
About: High school students can apply for the free Summer Law & Trial Institute, offered virtually by Ohio University’s Center for Law, Justice & Culture. Preference is given to rising high school juniors and seniors from Southeastern Ohio, though students from outside the region also can apply.
NASA Space and Technology Camp hosted by Ohio University Kids on Campus and the College of Health Sciences and Professions
When: July 12-16, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily
Where: Grover Center, Ohio University (Athens Campus)
About: This summer, Kids on Campus (KOC) is partnering with the NASA Glenn Research Center Office of Education to offer a five-day STEM camp. Participants will perform real science on real impact craters while using 3D modeling, digital art and virtual reality software to complete a program designed by the scientists at NASA. Students will be guided through this process by teachers and staff who have received training from NASA experts.
The summer camp is for ages 14-18 only; space is limited to 40 participants. Free lunch will be provided. Contact Kids on Campus via email (email@example.com) or call (740-566-8543) to request an application.
High School Journalism Workshop hosted by the Scripps College of Communication
When: July 7-8
About: Students (grades 9-12) can choose from various professional tracks, interact with working professionals and faculty of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, and get to know current Ohio University students. Registration closes on Friday, June 25th at 11:00pm.
High School Media Workshop hosted by the Scripps College of Communication
When: July 30
Where: Athens Campus
About: The High School Media Workshop is a hands-on creative opportunity for students in grades 9-13 (freshmen in college) to explore their production passion. This one-day, in-person workshop will allow you to work with other high school students to create original work. Choose to focus on video production, music recording, animation, audio for cinema.
Summer Studios hosted by the College of Fine Arts
When: June 7-18
Where: Athens Campus and Online
Cost: Each course is $325.00 and includes 1.0 university credit or student may combine two courses for $595.00 for the full day with two courses (2.0 credits).
About: This summer, immerse yourself in the fine arts with Ohio University’s Summer Arts Programs — intensive, hands-on explorations in the Schools of Art + Design, Music, Dance, Film, and Theater. Building Bridges Summer Institute hosted by Ohio University Southern
When: June 23, 2021
About: Building Bridges Summer Institute (BBSI) is an initiative that focuses on self-reflection, building community, and engagement for high school students in grades 11-12, graduating seniors, and post-secondary students. Led by a team of trained facilitators, the BBSI will help students to identify with their own culture, become informed about other cultures and behaviors, and dialogue on current topics. Through interactive activities, guest presenters, and discussions the institute will work toward building leaders who are able to recognize, appreciate and value their similarities and differences and those of others.
“Where I’m From”: Virtual Summer Writing Program hosted by Ohio University Southern
About: The “Where I’m From”: Virtual Summer Writing Program is offered by Ohio University Southern at no cost to participants. This workshop is designed to instruct participants in the art of creative writing and expression. Based around George Ella Lyon’s poem “Where I’m From,” participants will write their own version as either a poem or a flash-fiction piece. Facilitators will coach students on proper poetry and fiction techniques to foster a community of creative writers. Participants will be asked to present their final draft in a virtual Writer’s Theater Teams Live Event.
Medical Academy hosted by the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine
When: June 15-18
About: The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine at Dublin is hosting its seventh annual Medical Academy health careers discovery program in partnership with OhioHealth. Central Ohio junior and senior high school students can participate in a series of highly interactive, case-based learning activities focused on medical and health career exploration, professional growth and leadership through service learning. Kids in College

Cost: $45 (1st class), $35 (Additional classes). Some classes require material fees.
About: Kids in College is a summer enrichment program for students (K-8th grade) who are interested in science, history, theater and many other educational opportunities. The program is staffed by a variety of enthusiastic, imaginative teachers and college faculty who are interested in working with motivated students.
