The Wellness Committee Has Big Plans!
The Wellness Committee is a divisional initiative to promote thoughtful and intentional well-being and encourage employees’ personal and professional productivity by fostering a workplace culture that promotes environmental and social support for a healthy lifestyle. The goal of the Wellness Committee is to promote physical, emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual and occupational growth through innovative and engaging approaches to wellness as a means of contributing sustainable value to the Division of Student Affairs community.
The Wellness Committee has been hard at work developing wellness opportunities to extend to divisional employees that promote the six dimensions of wellness. During fall semester, the committee has coordinated several events such as golf lessons, ice skating and star gazing with more exciting opportunities to engage with divisional employees during the months of November and December. The Wellness Committee would like for you to save the date for these following events:
• November 14 – “Healthy Eating” at Baker 230 from 12:00-1:00 pm. Would you like to change your eating habits but are concerned that healthy food = carrots, celery and broccoli? Culinary Services will be partnering to provide several healthy menu options, demonstrate healthy cooking techniques and provide tasty recipes for employees to enjoy.
• November 19 – “Divisional Tailgate for Bobcat Blackout – OHIO vs. Kent”. Are you ready to show your school spirit and support our Bobcats as they host Kent State? Join the Division at Emeriti Park from 5:30-7:30 pm for some fun and pre-game tailgating. Hamburgers, hotdogs, veggies burgers and drinks will be provided; bring a side dish to share. Each employee can request one ticket for entrance into the game.
• December 6 – “Student Affairs WellWorks Wellness”. Are you considering joining WellWorks? Would you like to see what WellWorks has to offer before you commit? WellWorks will be partnering and open their facility to all divisional employees on December 6 as an introduction to their workout room and group activities in which they offer. Any divisional employee visiting WellWorks on this day can sign up to win a year membership. Take advantage of this opportunity and purchase your “buy one – get one membership half off” in December just in time to support your New Year resolution!
• December 13 – “Student Affairs Night at Bird Arena”. Who thinks the Division of Student Affairs is special? Coach Mo in Campus Recreation does. Join the Division for a night at Bird Arena and support OHIO Hockey as they take on Robert Morris Eagles. Each divisional employee will receive free admission to the game with the opportunity to purchase additional tickets at a discounted price. Several “special” activities will be offered before and during the game to promote wellness.
And who can forget the exciting 3 on 3 Divisional Basketball Tournament? Start your conditioning for a “February Fight for Fame” and take on the reigning champs of Benjah Miller, Josh Rasmussen, and Nicole Mitani at this spectacular event. Many additional events will be offered for spring semester – Stay Tuned!
