Topping Out Event
On October 2, 2013 over eighty OHIO engineering students toured the Walter Fieldhouse construction site for an up close lab experience, and to sign one of the final structural beams. David Stanton, Project Superintendent, led the group by sharing insights and experiences he’s gained in his career with Turner Construction. In his discussions with the students he compared on-the-job experiences to his classroom learning experiences, and shared details about the construction processes used in erecting the building.
The group then got an inside look at Turners progress with the project by touring the site. The students, along with Vice President for Student Affairs, Ryan Lombardi, and Civil Engineering Chair, Deb McAvoy signed a steel beam in commemoration of the final stage of the building erection process.
