Parents & Families: Encourage use of Writing Center for final papers

With the end of the semester and finals fast approaching, papers are sure to be due! The Student Writing Center (SWC), located in Alden 236A, and part of the Academic Achievement Center, have tutors who can help interpret writing assignments, brainstorm ideas, narrow topics, craft strong thesis statements, assist in writing outlines and work on sentence structure and organization, just to name a few. Writing tutors also review and help with citations.

The SWC hours for finals week are the same as the regular hours and just as free: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

  • To schedule an appointment, students should visit ohio.mywconline.com.
  • The writing center also offers walk ins (no appointment necessary and also free) MW 6-8 p.m.; Tu/Th 3:30-4:30 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 3 - 5 p.m. Walk ins take place in the open area of the second floor of the library near the second-floor entrance. Students should look for the orange tabletop walk in sign at a table near the glass wall.

Like all of our colleagues at Ohio University, the Student Writing Center wants students to finish the semester strong! Call 740-566-2644 with questions.
