Keeping Bobcats Informed Parents & Families, Sept. 10, 2020

Keeping Bobcats Informed Parents & Families, Sept. 10, 2020

Bobcat Parents & Families,

Another week has come and gone, and with it comes more questions! With the announcement of Phase 2, we are now preparing for the 31% of undergraduates and 100% of graduate students approved for return. I know that many of you had hoped your students would get to return in Phase 2 and the news is disappointing. Others have been approved, and are making decisions to stay home and online. Whatever the modality for the rest of fall, know that we are there to support you and your students.

We're treading lightly as we head into this next stage of the life for our institution in the hopes of keeping our students, staff, faculty and community safe while adjusting to the rolling tide of this pandemic.  For those of you who still have questions, please check out the updated www.ohio.edu/coronavirus webpage for current information, including which classes were approved to meet in person.  If you still have questions, please join us for the upcoming Town Hall on Sept. 17 at 7 p.m., and ask your questions in advance.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Senior Associate Vice President
Dean of Students

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PHASE 2

HOUSING & RESIDENCE LIFE

Return to Campus

Move-in for those approved to live in on-campus housing will take place Sept. 22-26. All students should self-quarantine for two weeks prior to returning to Athens.

ACADEMICS

Course Schedules

Many students in Phase 2 will have some face-to-face experiences, but the majority of courses will continue online. Students will receive direction from their instructors for courses with in-person requirements.

HOUSING OPT-OUT

Remote Alternative

If you are approved for Phase 2 but do not plan to return to live on campus, you need to complete an intent to remain online form by Sept. 10 at 9 a.m. The form can be found through your myhousing portal.

REDUCED CAMPUS DENSITY

Program Selection

Decisions for return were based on essential in-person educational requirements, and which programs would most benefit from access to labs, studios and specialized equipment.
