Coping Clinic

Coping Clinic

Coping Clinic at Counseling & Psychological Services is an online drop-in workshop series that focuses on providing training and practice for a variety of coping skills that may be helpful to you. This is a flexible and accessible resource for you to utilize throughout the semester, between counseling sessions, or as you wait to get connected to services. Coping Clinic is psychoeducational and supportive in nature, where you can share your experiences with peers, without a semester-long commitment. Coping Clinic does not replace individual/group mental health treatment. Students do not have to be a client with CPS or currently located in the state of Ohio to engage in Coping Clinic workshops.

Coping Clinic workshops are facilitated through Microsoft Teams. Students will be required to use their OHIO e-mail to join the Teams meeting. As a result, your name will be visible to other participants. Students are discouraged to use the chat feature during the meeting as the chat conversations can be accessible after each meeting ends. You are encouraged to leave the conversation after the meeting is over to prevent notifications of future meetings. Call CPS at 740-593-1616 if you have problems accessing a Coping Clinic workshop through the meeting links.

**Update 4/20/2021: The last scheduled Coping Clinic session for the semester is on 4/30/2021 - Call CPS with any questions**

Spring 2021 Scheduled Coping Clinic Topics:

Monday (3pm EST): Bobcat Social Connections

Social and physical distancing has disrupted many people’s social connections. Bobcat Social Connections is a place where students can chat and connect with a CPS staff member and other students to provide support and offer resources.

Tuesday (1pm EST): Move Forward

Are you having trouble managing stress, anxiety, depression, or interpersonal difficulties? Moving Forward will offer skills that can help you stay present with your experiences, learn how to let go of unnecessary thoughts and feelings, clarify your values, and move toward a better life.

Wednesday (3pm EST): Wind Down Wednesday

Join us for a soothing mediation, relaxation or mindfulness practice, to restore and recharge at the end of the day. Students will learn at least one meditation or mindfulness practice, aimed at bringing balance back into the body and mind.

Thursday (1pm EST): Academic Resiliency

Learning virtually will have its good and bad days. Academic Resiliency will offer skills to improve time management, reduce perfectionism and/or imposter syndrome, stay task-oriented, and help you manage virtual burnout.

Friday (11am EST): Feel Good Fridays

Has your week been difficult? In need of support? Feel Good Fridays will offer students fun and creative ways to explore your thoughts and feelings, plus discuss resources to practice healthy behaviors moving into the weekend and beyond.
