New workshops offered to expand design, website and social media skills among DOSA staff and students

January 23, 2020

The Student Affairs Communication and Marketing team has prepared two optional trainings and one required training for Division of Student Affairs staff and students to assist in aligning work across the division and as part of the larger university community.

Best Practices in Social Media

In this workshop, attendees will learn protocols used by SACM’s social media team that can be applied to the development of copy and visuals to best suit each platform. In the ever-changing landscape of social media, it is important to maintain consistency through the continuous application of best practices, such as creating variety in post content development while maintaining consistent messaging themes, in order to best represent the student life brand of the Division of Student Affairs. This training will be beneficial for anyone who is managing a social media channel, contributing social media copy to a channel, or simply interested in the basic principles of social media.

RSVP is not required.

This session will include tools tips for success that can guide your composition, typeface selections, use of color, and more. Whether you are a designer-in-training, supervising a designer, or simply looking to expand your creative skill set, this presentation will guide you through important steps to ensure quality and consistency are achieved throughout Division of Student Affairs materials.

We will also cover when and how the SACM team can assist, tips for adapting promotional content for the web and ensuring that content is accessible to all, and the fundamentals of user experience.
