We invite first gen students to engage with the CLDC early and often during their time at OHIO. Coaching can be helpful for clarifying academic and major options, planning for ways to get experience before graduation, and building skills to be successful in the workplace. Consider working with one of our coaches in career coaching, leadership coaching, or a mock interview to prepare for success during your time in school and to feel confident about your post-graduation plans. In addition to coaching, our workshops and events offer the chance to get practical experience while building your network.
OHIO First Scholars provides a network of support and opportunities for Ohio University's first-generation college students. It is housed within the Allen Student Advising Center and coordinated by first-generation college graduates who understand the unique experiences and strengths of first-generation students.
The Allen Student Advising Center was created to improve the success and persistence of Ohio University students. To accomplish this mission, the Advising Center provides walk in advising as well as intervention programs for students who may be struggling. We welcome students and families to consult with us, and collaborators to partner with us toward our goals of helping Bobcats succeed at and graduate from Ohio University.
