Through collaboration with energetic colleagues, engagement with thousands of students, and involvement with the development and implementation of innovative services, the CLDC and Ohio University provide diverse opportunities to forward a career in higher education. In the 2017–18 academic year, over 30 thousand students took part in CLDC programs, events, and individual services – and this number grows annually.

In 2018, the CLDC was awarded the National Excellence Award for Career Services Excellence by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the largest national association for career services and employers who engage in university relations and recruiting. The CLDC's selection was based, in part, on the team's development of Brain-Based Career Development (BBCD), a theoretical model based on neuropsychological best practices. The model, which debuted in 2013, provides practitioners with new strategies for their work with clients.

The CLDC is based within Ohio University’s Division of Student Affairs – named among the Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs in 2015 by American College Personnel Association.

Located in Baker University Center at the heart of Ohio University’s main campus, the career center offers beautiful, high quality facilities to students and staff. At Ohio University, we see the career development process differently from our peer institutions. As soon as students step onto campus, we encourage them to get engaged immediately. As an institution, our career development process is early, often and forever.

Student Ambassadors

The student ambassador team is a group of dynamic student leaders that are passionate about educating their peers on career and leadership topics. Student ambassadors support the CLDC’s mission by facilitating workshops, offering mock interviews, and assisting with CLDC events and special projects. The ideal student ambassador is a self-motivated leader with a knack for public speaking and a desire to be a committed team member. If you are looking for a fun, flexible, student position that will support your development as a leader and a professional, this is the one for you.

Hiring for student ambassadors happens annually during December and January. Visit Ohio University Jobs to find the job posting.
