Southern Campus March for Babies Walk team.
June 20, 2017 : Southern Campus team raises nearly $900 to benefit March for Babies Walk
This year’s Ohio University Southern team raised nearly $900 and participated in the March of Dimes “March for Babies Walk” April 22 in Ashland, Kentucky’s Central Park. Michaela Smith, junior BSN student, designed the team’s t-shirts and even though the Southern Campus team didn’t win the t-shirt contest, it was a real winner in sales that went toward the team’s goal and was part of the nearly $72K raised at the event.

Associate Professor of Nursing Beth Delaney lead the team from the Southern Campus. Participating in the event for the past ten years, the team was comprised mainly of nursing students and their families dedicated to the cause of helping mothers and babies for generations to come.

“As team captain, I am so thankful to the students, faculty and staff at Ohio University Southern who donated their money, time and energy to this year’s fundraising efforts,” Delaney said. “Even though it was a cold and rainy Saturday before final exams, supporters came and walked. I really appreciate that level of dedication to this cause.”

According to the March of Dimes, nearly 4 million babies are born annually in the U.S. and the money raised by participants is a lifeline for babies in the NICU, connecting them with the critical treatments and care they need.
