February 28, 2017 : Southern Campus' Equine Studies Program, Equestrian Team Hosts Judging Invitational
The Ohio University Southern Equine Studies Program and Equestrian Team hosted the Third Annual Equine Career Development Events (CDE) Judging Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 25, at Ohio Horse Park.  Students from Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia participated with area Future Farmers of America (FFA) and 4-H clubs.
Bradie Chapman, coordinator of the Ohio Horse Park Center for Therapeutic Riding, said, “This was our biggest year yet.”  More than 30 participants from Green County Career Center, Vinton County High School, Diamond Oaks Career Campus, Berkeley County 4-H Club and Collins Career Center attended this year’s event.
Event participants judged three different equine classes: halter, hunt seat equitation and western horsemanship. Ohio University Southern equine students handled and rode the horses for participants to judge. Ohio University Southern Equine Adjunct Instructor, Mark Abell, served as judge over the event, while Tom Oglesby, Ohio FFA Leader for the CDE, attended the event to finalize scores.
