Pictured is a collage of selected artwork for the Ohio University Southern Seventh Annual Tri-State High School Juried Art Exhibition.  Each participant will receive a T-shirt displaying the artwork on the back of the shirt.

This year’s event boasted 565 entries with 112 pieces being selected for the show—representing 11 area high schools in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. The artwork, which was on display until March 3, consisted of paintings, drawings, photography, mixed media and three-dimensional works.

Ohio University Southern senior lecturer of art and campus program liaison Tom Suter said each year we are all amazed at the quality of artwork we have the honor of judging. “This is a tribute to all of the art students, teachers and parents,” Suter said.

Best of Show winner, Hanna Cox Ashland Paul G. Blazer High School art teacher Jennifer Spade said that this exhibition is such an amazing experience for our students.  “Of all the shows we participate in, this one is my favorite because it is juried – it incites students to put forth their best work,” Spade added.

Kelly Emmons, art teacher at Wheelersburg High School, believes it is important to validate the work, thoughts, ideas and efforts of young artists.  “Support and recognition from shows like this can make a difference in the future of many students,” Emmons, said.
