Past Concerts

Kentucky Memories kymemories is led by award-winning musician Michael Garvin and is made up of his family members.  “We come from a long line of musicians.  My dad and cousins play with me, and together we’re carrying on the traditions of our family by playing this old-time Appalachian-style of music.”

Kentucky Memories specializes in instrumental music; specifically fiddle tunes.  “I’ve studied fiddle tunes and players from all over the Tri-state.  We usually play a song from each area along with some waltzes.  This is similar music to what you would see in a square dance.”  Kentucky Memories have played at the Brown Bag Concert series for several years.  “This is one of the best venues for a local artist to play.  I look forward to doing these concerts every year!”

Blue Vine bluevine consists of multi-instrumentalist couple Janet Thompson and Michael Garvin.  The concert will be featuring the bluegrass banjo and old-time fiddle tunes along with original songs and covers of country and pop favorites.

Janet is a graduate of Ohio University Southern and has kept up with the Brown Bag Concert series for over ten years.  “One of my favorite memories from being a student was attending these shows each week.  Now that we get to come back and play them after graduation makes it incredibly special!  The Rotunda is a beautiful place to visit, and each semester they offer such a great and diverse lineup of talent.”
