What can you do with a communication degree? In short, the sky is the limit. Our alumni are communication leaders in ever discipline of the industry. They are not only asking the tough questions in this ever-changing field, but are finding solutions that help the world move forward. Faculty and students here on campus also play a part in how Scripps shapes the future of communication through research, creative activity, internships and extracurricular activities. Ohio University graduate John Swartz inspired students to start the film company Spin Cycle Films

Nov 24, 2015 Kyle Henke, a sophomore studying screenwriting and producing, is following in the footsteps of John Swartz, an Ohio University alumnus and co-producer of the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens. Last year, Henke and his friends decided to start their own film company — Spin Cycle Films — after meeting Swartz during their spring break trip to Los Angeles.

VICO students earn 10 awards at College Photographer of the Year competition

Nov 17, 2015 On Nov. 12 the 70th College Photographer of the Year (CPOY) and Still Photography Division winners were announced, which included wins for five students and one alumnus from the Ohio University School of Visual Communication. Daniel Owen, BSVC ’15, was named the Runner-up College Photographer of the Year with a Silver award in the Portfolio category.

Dean’s Advisory Council meets in NYC

Oct 29, 2015 The Scripps Dean’s Advisory Council (DAC) met in New York City Oct. 21-23 for its fall meeting. Thirteen of the 23 council members were in attendance to meet with alumni and interns at various businesses and to talk about college initiatives.

Mar 25, 2015 OHIO alumnus Michel du Cille and Mike Philipps, a longtime supporter, partner and friend of the college, were officially inducted into the Hall of Fame during a March 23 ceremony that also marked the beginning of the Scripps College’s annual Communication Week.

Alumnus Clarence Page presides over 130th-anniversary Gridiron Club dinner

Mar 16, 2015 Two presidents from Chicago brought down the house Saturday night at the annual white-tie dinner of the oldest and most exclusive club for Washington journalists. One was President Barack Obama. The other was Chicago Tribune Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist and Ohio University alumnus Clarence Page (BSJ ’69).
