OHIO Coding Camp

The Ohio University Summer Coding Camp is a free program offered by Ohio University to help introduce middle-school aged girls to basic computer programming with the hope of helping them develop skills that can help open pathways for them in this rapidly growing career field. The camp has been designed by Ohio University professors and staff who will work with advanced Ohio University students to facilitate the camp. Examples of the types of activities that the girls will do may include programming games, webpages, small robots and experiencing virtual and augmented reality technology. There will also be entertainment activities like swimming, playing games and going to a movie.

This camp is a residential camp that will last from May 29-June 3, 2018. Girls attending the camp will stay in Ohio University Residence Halls specially designated for the camp and will be under constant supervision by personnel associated with the camp. Participants will receive detailed information as the camp approaches. However, participants will only need to bring basic personal items like toiletries and other personal care items, necessary medications, clothing, favorite blankets/pillows and perhaps snacks to have in the room. All regular meals will be provided. All residence hall rooms will have two girls, with a private bath shared by up to four camp participants.

Participation in the camp is open to 6-8 grade girls and is free of charge, but space is limited. Parents and students should complete the application form by following the link below. Students selected will be notified in spring 2018.
