Scripps College Blood Drive yields 11 units of blood

ATHENS, Ohio (Feb. 4, 2013)—A blood drive held by the Red Cross and sponsored by the Scripps College of Communication at Ohio University yielded 11 units of blood on Friday, Feb. 1. A  mix of students and staff showed up to the drive, which was held in the WOUB radio station with the National Communication Association Student Club (NCASC) manning the registration table.

“Without them (NCASC), it would have been a lot more difficult,” said Becky Fox, assistant to the executive office in the Scripps College. “I also think the Red Cross staff was fantastic – very friendly and calm.”

According to their website, the American Red Cross of Southeastern Ohio is in critical need for all blood types, meaning the blood bank is down to less than one day’s supply. The need for blood type O negative is described as urgent.
