Scripps College to name Student Organization of the Year
Deadline for contest submission is Feb. 8
Attention Scripps students involved in Scripps student organizations: Is your student organization deserving of the title of “Student Organization of the Year”? Is it comprised of students who go above and beyond what is required of them?
In an effort to recognize and reward Scripps College of Communication student organizations, Dean Scott Titsworth has announced a Student Organization of the Year Contest. At least one $1,000 award will be granted and the winning organization(s) will have a lead part in preparing programming for the college’s annual Scripps Celebration.
In order to be eligible to compete in the contest, the student organization must be official and recognized by the Division of Student Affairs.
Applications must be submitted by February 8, 2013 and must consist of the following:
- A two- to three-page narrative detailing what the student organization has accomplished fall semester, including such things as hosting speakers, conducting informative meetings for students, planning networking trips, raising funds for nonprofits or volunteering at such events as WOUB pledge drives.
- A creative package of supporting materials showing how said student organization is the best and most active in the Scripps College. This package might include a PowerPoint presentation, a multimedia production, a live performance or presentation, a printed publication or a video game package, depending on the forte of each organization.
A panel of judges made up of industry professionals on the Dean's Advisory Council will review the entries and announce a winner on or before March 8, 2013.
Entries from student organizations throughout the college are strongly encouraged. The winning organization will be featured during Communication Week programming.
