Sheila B. Lalwani brings years of experience in daily journalism, advertising, public relations and strategic communications to Ohio. She was a staff writer for the Seattle Times, Associated Press and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reporting from Austria, Thailand, Germany, Indonesia, India and Singapore. She spent a year at Foreign Policy magazine as the Senior Advisor to the Publisher and previously worked for U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy. 

She graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., with honors in Journalism and Religious Studies and earned a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University. She spent a year in Germany as a Fulbright Scholar and later completed her LL.M. in Legal Theory (magna cum laude) from Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, where she researched social media regulation. She has been teaching journalism, mass media and communications to undergraduates and graduates for years, encouraging students to make careers in journalism, public relations and strategic communications. She is passionate about promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the field and is proud that many of her students have gone on to graduate, law and, yes, even medical school.
