2020 Proposal Submission Guidelines

Applicants for the 2020 Communication Fellows cohort should develop a 3-4 page proposal addressing the following questions. Completed proposals should be single-spaced with standard margins and 12-point font. Proposals should be sent electronically (PDF preferred) to Jennifer Tate (scrippscollege@ohio.edu) no later than 5 p.m. on January 15, 2020. A cover letter is not required.

Contact Information

  1. Complete personal contact information including your mailing address, telephone and email.                

  2. School name, address, primary telephone number, website (if applicable) and name of principal.         

  3. Primary media/newspaper outlet(s) covering the school and, if applicable, the community in which you reside (if it's different from the school district).

Your Background

  1. Describe your educational background, including degrees awarded.      

  2. Describe your teaching experiences, including positions held, locations, etc.      

  3. What would you like to learn more about through the course of this fellowship?

Your School and Students

  1. Describe the community in which your school is located. This could be very brief or, depending on the unique circumstances of your community, could involve some additional background information.     

  2. Also describe your school, including the general characteristics (demographics, cultural, etc.) of the student population served.

Your Project

  1. Provide a 100-word (max.) summary of your project.              

  2. Identify specific objectives that you want to accomplish with your project, with explanation/justification as needed.

  3. Describe the resources needed to accomplish your project. Those resources could be training, financial, or other types of support. We plan to provide up to $1,000 as a classroom stipend. This section should explain how those resources will be used and should describe any other sources of funding/support that may be leveraged (e.g., other professional development funds from your school, other grants, etc.) to support your project. Matching support is not required, but if available, will help us better understand the scope of what you propose.  

  4. What will it take to sustain your project for future years/iterations? Are there ways you can potentially expand your project/innovation to other teachers?

  5. In 100 words or less, please describe how you think this project will have impact with your students.

  6. Describe how you will assess this program's success. Please list any data you may collect to aid in this analysis and improve your project throughout the year.
