Luis Miguel (M.A., Universidad de Caldas) was born in Manizales, a small city in the coffee-growing region of Colombia, in the heart of the Andes Mountains. He earned his M.A. in Philosophy from Universidad de Caldas and a B.A. in Communication and Journalism from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (both in Colombia).

His broad area of interest is in the convergence between history, memory, politics, public sphere, violence, and representation. He analyzes the rhetorical meanings existing in the performances and narratives that individuals and communities have created about the Colombian War.

Luis Miguel likes sports and outdoor activities. He plays soccer, swims, bikes and is passionate about fly fishing. However, he is now focused on Trail Running and is planning to run a couple of mountain half-marathons in the US  before going back to his home country in 2022.
