Training 


All investigators and advisors involved in either human or animal subject research are required to complete the respective training programs. Please note that each training course has a unique expiration date and that all researchers are required to have up-to-date training.

Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI)

This is the training site for required certification of training in human subject research, HIPAA, animal subject research, conflict of interest (coi) and responsible conduct of research.  Clicking here will link you to the CITI page where you can register for required training programs.  There are also additional optional courses available on this site for further education.

Types of Training

Human Subjects Research - The course that Ohio University requires for Human Subjects Institutional Review Board (IRB) training is either the Biomedical or Social Behavior course.  For guidance on Human Subjects training, click here.

HIPAA - The course that Ohio University requires for HIPAA is Information Privacy Security (IPS).  For guidance on IPS training, click here.

Animal Research - The course that Ohio University requires for Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) training is the "Working with the IACUC (Investigator, Staff, and Students) Course."  For guidance on IACUC training, click here.

Conflict of Interest - The course that Ohio University requires for Conflict of Interest (COI) training is the "Conflict of Interest Training."  For guidance on COI training, click here.

Research Compliance will host a demonstration session to help faculty, staff and students with any questions they may have about the new LEO IRB system.  The session will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am in RTEC 102.  The session will be limited to 25 attendees.  RSVP is not required, but you can email compliance@ohio.edu to reserve a spot.
