Innovation Strategy announces plans for second cycle of program

From staff reports | Jun 2, 2016

Planning for the Innovation Strategy Cycle 2 funding process is now underway.  Ohio University anticipates releasing the Cycle 2 Request for Proposals (RFP) in September 2016.

The program focus, proposal process and selection criteria will be similar to that used in Cycle 1. Interdisciplinary teams of faculty and/or staff drawn from more than one planning unit/college will be encouraged to submit a letter of intent, followed by a pre-proposal, with major funding allocated based on full proposals submitted in a final stage.

The deadline for Letters of Intent will occur later in the fall semester; additional details will be provided in the RFP.

The Innovation Strategy is an initiative to ensure that the university remains engaged at a high level with some of the major challenges of today.  The strategy has several elements, including a recurring cycle of investments to foster innovation in teaching and learning, institutional operations, and research and creative activity.

Funding for these investments is provided through a competitive process, and the results of the initial competition cycle were announced earlier this year. Details on the Cycle 1 process and the teams selected for funding can be found at http://www.ohio.edu/research/innovationstrategy.cfm.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to take advantage of the summer months to develop ideas and collaborations so that they are in a strong position to participate in the Cycle 2 process.  If faculty or staff have questions about the Innovation Strategy, are seeking collaborators or feedback on project ideas or otherwise need assistance, please contact research@ohio.edu.
