From staff reports | Mar 28, 2019

Larry Witmer, Professor of Anatomy at Ohio University in the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, will be the featured guest on the Party Line talk show with Dave Palmer on WATH radio from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Wed., April 3. Listeners can tune in to 970 AM/97.1 FM or listen via http://970wath.com/listen-live/ and can call in to ask questions at 740-592-6646.

Witmer will discuss his ongoing research on dinosaurs and answer questions such as:

  • What kind of dinosaur research do I do? What are the scientific questions I’m asking?

  • Why should we study dinosaurs? Why should taxpayers think federal grant dollars should support things like dinosaur research?

  • What about Jurassic Park and Jurassic World? Could we ever bring back dinosaurs like in those movies? What do paleontologists like me think about those movies?

Prior to arriving at Ohio University in 1995, he received degrees from Cornell, Kansas, and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Witmer is known for “fleshing out” dinosaurs, combining classical anatomy with high-tech CT scanning and 3D imaging to shed light on dinosaur biology. He is an Ohio University Presidential Research Scholar and the Chang Professor of Paleontology. Witmer has received numerous federal grants and has many publications in top scientific journals. He has appeared on dozens of televised documentaries, as well as on CNN, NPR, and other national media. He has a popular presence on most social media platforms (search: WitmerLab).
