Ohio University and The Ohio State University will co-host a conference on fostering university-industry partnerships Sept. 16-19 in Columbus. The event is the annual fall international meeting of the University Industry Demonstration Partnership (UIDP), a project-based organization focused on exploring issues that impact university-industry relations as well as developing innovative approaches to working together.
“UIDP29 offers a window into how the university community can strengthen its relationships with current and prospective corporate partners,” said Kevin King, director of industry partnerships at Ohio University and a conference organizer. “Ohio University will have a strong presence at the meeting. We encourage broad participation in the conference, which this year will focus on workforce development and talent management strategies.”
Joseph Shields, vice president for research and creative activity, will provide welcoming remarks, and several Ohio University faculty members and administrators will make presentations or participate in panel discussions at the meeting, including:
Mo Valentine, Research Division, will discuss “Creating and Using a Negotiating Playbook”
Todd Myers, Russ College of Engineering and Technology, and Heather Lawrence-Benedict, College of Business, will discuss “Certificate Programs”
Imants Juanarajs, Career and Leadership Development Center, will present “Brain-Based Career Development” and will moderate the discussion “Microcredentialing for Soft Skills”
Michael Deis, Russ College of Engineering and Technology, will discuss the “Autonomy Research Collaborative Network (ARCNet) Consortium”
Ohio University’s College of Health Sciences and Professions Dublin Integrated Education Center and the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Dublin Campus are featured among the tour options for participants.
In addition to Ohio University’s role as co-host of UIDP29, the Russ College of Engineering and Technology and the Nanoscale and Quantum Phenomenon Institute have provided sponsorship for the event.
Ohio University faculty, staff and students can register online to attend the conference through Friday, Sept. 6. Walk-in/on-site registration will be available as well.
