Ohio University is in the midst of rapid creative discovery and accomplishment that gives us the edge that is needed to articulate our path and deliver what our state needs from public higher education, specifically what it needs from Ohio University.
We like to think of this concept as OHIO for Ohio—a pathway to helping Ohio unlock its potential for greatness by linking our University’s transformative learning community with the state’s economic progress and vitality.
We are very proud of this collaboration, because its result is a work that tells our stories in very human terms. It puts a face on the work we do as a university to make our region, state, nation, and world better for all.
Direct and indirect economic benefits come as a result of the discovery, creativity, and intellectual outreach of our faculty—and from the contributions of our students, staff, alumni, and strategic partners. Many of these accomplishments and stories were captured in the internationally recognized series, “Appalachia Rising,” which appeared in our University’s online news publication. Several of the articles were compiled into a new book published by the Ohio University Press that highlights partnerships between the University and the Ohio Appalachian region.
Whether it is community outreach through the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, enrichment activities of the Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education, or student leadership in the Fritz J. and Dolores H. Russ College of Engineering and Technology, OHIO’s 209-year tradition of transformational achievement continues to make a difference for people in our state and beyond. Thank you for the opportunity to share some of the recent accomplishments of our University family.
