Dear Advisor,

You are receiving this message because you are the advisor for a student who is eligible to enroll for Spring Semester 2019-20. I am writing to let you know about two changes to the Faculty and Advising Center.

  1. Earlier this fall, we implemented a new feature in the Advisee List that allows advisors to see if a student is in the OHIO Honors Program via the existing special populations "gear" icon. If a student is in any of the identified populations (first generation, athlete, receiving veterans education benefits, or in the OHIO Honors program), the icon will appear. Clicking the icon will show which special population(s) the student is in.
  2. On Tuesday, October 29, an enhancement will be implemented to allow students to see advising notes about them through the Faculty and Advising Center. Students currently access the Faculty and Advising Center to view their DARS reports, and this change will create another menu option for "My Advising Notes."
    My Advising Notes

Since students already have a right under FERPA to inspect and review their education records, this enhancement will simply allow the students to see the notes themselves, online, rather than having to make a request to an individual office. This change should not impact how you use advising notes as an advisor. You can continue to enter notes through the Faculty and Advising Center or My OHIO Success Network, and your advisees will automatically be given the correct access.

If you have any questions about these new features, please contact the Office of the University Registrar via email at registration@ohio.edu or phone at 740.593.4495.

Thank you,

Bob Bulow
