Registration Periods and Sports Offered

Registration opens at midnight on the first date listed and closes at 5 p.m. on the last date listed. Teams can sign up on IMLeagues.com and will need to pay for their team by 4 p.m. the following business day after they register. Teams can pay online at www.recshop.ohio.edu, over the phone by calling (740) 593-9946 or in person in our office (140 Ping Recreation Center).

Spring I
Registration Period: Monday, January 9 - Thursday, January 19

5v5 Basketball (Competitive $60 / Recreational $30)
Indoor Soccer (Competitive $40 / Recreational $20)
Indoor Volleyball (Competitive $40 / Recreational $20)
Broomball (Competitive $40 / Recreational $20)
Badminton (Flat rate of $10)

*Note: registration may stay open longer on a sport-by-sport basis if leagues do not fill.

 
Looking for a Team? Join a Free Agent Team

Interested in playing IM sports, but don't have a team to play on?  We will be holding free agent meetings during each registration period for those who wish to be placed on a team. Come to the meeting for your designated sport and you will be placed on a team.

Spring I: Wednesday, January 11
5v5 Basketball @ 7:30 p.m.
Volleyball @ 7:30 p.m.
Indoor Soccer @ 8 p.m.
Broomball @ 8:30 p.m.
Badminton @ 8:30 p.m.

 
Pre-Season Captain's Meetings

Spring I
5v5 Basketball: January 18 at 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m.
Broomball: January 19 at 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m.
Volleyball: January 24 at 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m.
Indoor Soccer: January 25 at 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m.
Badminton: January 26 at 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m.

Once your team is registered, your captain or any team representative MUST attend one mandatory pre-season captain's meeting for your sport. Failure to attend will result in a team forfeit. 

 

Am I Eligible to Play?

Fall / Spring Sessions
All students currently enrolled at Ohio University (Athens campus) are eligible to participate until they no longer meet the rules of eligibility. Faculty and staff members employed at Ohio University (Athens campus) can purchase an Intramural Sports Pass to be eligible to participate. 

Summer Sessions
All students currently enrolled at Ohio University, those who have recently graduated and those who are enrolled at Ohio University but have not yet started classes are eligible to participate. 

How Many Teams Can I Play on? 
An individual may participate on an unlimited number of appropriate men's or women's teams and an unlimited number of coed standard and open teams in the same sport during the regular season. 
 

League Sports and Structure

League Types

Coed Standard Leagues:  Certain rules are altered based upon the gender of participants (i.e., scores involving females may be worth additional points, restrictions may exist based upon gender, etc.). An equal number of males and females is required to play.

Coed Open Leagues:  All scoring rules mirror those in single-gender sports. An equal number of males and females is required to play.

Recreational Leagues:  Each team will be scheduled in a 4-team league with 5 round-robin games.

Competitive Leagues:  Each team will be scheduled in a 4-team league with 3 regular season games and teams who are eligible will be scheduled for at least one playoff game.

*Note: In the event that a division does not fill and no games are scheduled and/or played, the teams in that division may have their team fee refunded to them by contacting the Competitive Sports Office.

 
Reinstatement Information for Each League

If a team in a recreational or coed league is charged with two forfeits (including the preseason captain's meeting), they must pay a reinstatement fee, which is 50% of their original registration fee for the sport they're playing. Recreational teams must pay by 4 p.m. the day of their next scheduled game to continue to participate in the league. Competitive teams must pay their reinstatement fee by 4 p.m. the day of their playoff bracket selection. NOTE: this reinstatement fee is non-refundable.

Playoffs

Competitive teams will participate in a single-elimination playoff tournament at the end of their regular season games. prio to the tournament, teams will receive an email from IMLeagues.com to participate in the playoff bracket selections. Teams will be given a time to choose their playoff dates based on their regular season record. Winners of the playoff tournament will receive an Intramural Champions t-shirt.
