About Learn to Lift

Learn To Lift is an experiential fitness education program aimed at teaching students how to safely incorporate barbell lifts with proper technique into a strength training program. Led by one of University Well-Being & Recreation's Certified Personal Trainers, this program meets once per week for 6 weeks, with two different sessions available for students to enroll in.

Program Objectives

  • Learn the "Core 3" compound barbell lifts and understand how they can be incorporated into a workout program.
  • Perfect the fundamentals and techniques of each movement pattern.
  • Demonstrate proper form while utilizing safety and injury prevention measures.

Program Details

  • Two weeks are dedicated to each lift. One week will be devoted to learning the form, and the next week will be utilized to practice.
  • Hands-on experience led by one of University Well-Being & Recreation's Certified Personal Trainers.
  • Safe space to ask questions, practice, and learn all things to love about lifting with a barbell! 
  • Two different offerings to choose from, either Session A or Session B. Timelines and meeting times for each session are included below!

Learn To Lift Price

The price for the Learn to Lift program is $25, which gets you access to six weekly weight training educational sessions, led by one of our Certified Personal Trainers. 

Register for Learn To Lift

To register for Learn to Lift, follow the instructions below: 

  1. Visit RecShop
  2. Login at the upper-right hand corner
  3. Sign in with your Ohio University username and password (without the
  4. Once you are logged in, you can either select the three lined button in the top left corner and select "Well-Being & Fitness Programs" OR you can simply click the "Well-Being & Fitness Programs" tile on the main RecShop page. 
  5. Select the desired E-Course you wish to register for (Personal Training or Group Fitness)
  6. Click "Register." 
  7. Select "Checkout." 
  8. Enter your payment information to complete the transaction
  9. Once you are registered for Learn To Lift, please send an email to the Assistant Director of Well-Being & Fitness, Tony Gregory, at or 740.593.9918 so that you can be added to the roster & contact list!
