Group Fitness Classes

Group fitness classes are open to students enrolled in classes on the Athens Campus and Ping Center members! You may also attend a fitness class by purchasing a daily pass to Ping Center.

Group Fitness Class Descriptions

6 PACK ATTACK: An intense workout for the entire torso, this 30 minute class focuses on toning and strengthening the body’s core abdominal and back muscles.

BOOTCAMP: This class mixes traditional callisthenic and body weight exercises with interval training and strength training. Workouts are designed in a way that pushes you harder than you would push themselves and  will challenge you differently in every class! Workouts are designed to improve your overall fitness – strength, cardio, flexibility, agility, and endurance! If you are looking for a to have fun, work hard, and up for a challenge, this class is for you!

BOXERCISE: A new twist on an old favorite, this class combines the foundational techniques of kickboxing with a fat-burning, core driven routine. Punch and kick your way through this fierce and challenging cardiovascular endurance workout.

CIRCUITS: Circuit training is a fast-paced class in which you do one exercise for an interval of time before moving to the next.  Circuit training is a form of body conditioning using both  high-intensity aerobics in combination with resistance training. This class is great for anyone looking for a total body workout!

CYCLING: This 60-minute cycling class will help increase your cardiovascular endurance as it leads you to pedal your way through a variety of resistance hills, climbs, and intervals.

HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING (HIIT): This class is based on the Tabata training principles designed to blast calories! Each workout is divided into intensive 4-minute segments, each designed to torch a maximum amount of calories.

HIP HOP DANCE BATTLE:

KICKBOXING: A new twist on an old favorite, this class aims to strengthen the heart, mind and body through the foundational techniques of kickboxing. This energized workout is guaranteed to make you sweat.

PEDAL & PUMP: If basic cycling is no longer a challenge, add some strength circuits! This workout has all the fun of a regular cycling class, but adds more strength training to the mix!

POP PILATES: POP Pilates® is Pilates like you've never seen before. It's an incredible fusion of total body defining moves choreographed to your favorite Top 40 hits. This intense, mat-based workout is for all levels and challenges participants to flow from one exercise to the next developing a strong core, and toned muscles.

SPEED COURSE: Geared toward the athlete and fitness enthusiast, Speed Course leads participants through a rigorous circuit of power moves, and strengthening exercises aimed at increasing participants’ level of fitness through cardio and strength. Those looking to challenge themselves will not be disappointed.

SPINYASA: A hybrid class that combines 30 minutes of intense cycling immediately followed by 30 minutes of yoga. This class will leave you feeling accomplished and rejuvenated!

TIGHTEN AND TONE (TNT):  This one hour strength-based class incorporates a variety of exercises and equipment to “tighten & tone” your entire body. Take one hour to sculpt your body at an intensity that will simultaneously improve your cardiovascular strength and endurance. All fitness levels are welcome!

YOGA: Designed to calm the spirit, focus on the mind, and challenge the body. This class addresses strength and flexibility through a range of yoga poses. All levels welcome.

YOGA FLOW & FRIDAY FLOW : A slower, more gentle pace variation of our traditional yoga classes. This class is used to rest, relax, and restore your mind and body

ZUMBA®: This workout takes movement elements found in traditional Latin dances, and incorporates them into a combination of interval and resistance training. Fun, easy-to-follow dance steps, and high-energy Latin music provide the framework for this feel-good, body sculpting cardio workout.

ZUMBA TONING®: Shake things up! For those who are looking to dance but crave to raise the bar. This class uses light weights to help define your arms, legs and core while dancing to the Latin inspired beat.

STRONG by ZUMBA®: Stop counting the reps. Start training to the beat. STRONG by Zumba® combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move. Every squat, every lunge, every burpee is driven by the music, helping you make it to that last rep, and maybe even five more.
