Each year, the Office of the Executive Vice President & Provost and the Center for Teaching & Learning sponsor the OHIO New Faculty Welcome.  In addition to welcoming new faculty to Ohio University, this event serves as an introduction to our community of artists, researchers and teachers; our history; the resources available to faculty; and a general overview of essential information.  President McDavis, EVPP Benoit, Beth Quitslund, our Faculty Senate chair, and many others will be on hand to welcome our new and provide them with important information.  A services fair will provide an opportunity for new faculty to ask specific questions and seek information at tables staffed by individuals from offices across campus.

The Welcome, to be held on August 17, 2015 in the Baker University Center multipurpose room 240/242, will begin with registration and a continental breakfast from 8:00 am to 8:30. The event will conclude around 3:30 pm.

The event agenda will be added to this site once it is finalized.

Information

Directions to Baker Center

The directions provided by: http://www.ohio.edu/athens/travel/ will bring you in to campus by way of the roundabout (traffic circle) at the intersection of Richland Avenue and OH-682. Those directions specify three alternatives from the roundabout. To get to Baker University Center, follow the alternative for the main campus.

Keep to the right as you leave the roundabout and approach the first traffic light on Richland Avenue (Peden Stadium will be on your right and the Convocation Center will be on your left). At the light, turn right onto South Green Drive.

At the next intersection, just past the stadium, turn left onto Oxbow Trail. (On your left when you make this turn is a parking lot that has in it metered spaces that are available for public use).

Follow Oxbow Trail until you arrive at the Baker University Center (on your right).

Parking

All green and purple lots are open for parking without a permit on the day of the Welcome.  Please note that August 17 is move-in day for students, so attendees should keep in mind that there may be congestion on roads leading to campus and in streets and parking lots on campus. A parking map is available online at: https://www.ohio.edu/athens/parking/

Lot 122, the surface lot at Baker Center, is a pay-to-park facility.  New faculty who plan to attend and RSVP by Friday, August 7, will receive a coupon code which will allow them to park in this lot at a 50% discount.  This coupon code is only valid when using the pay station machine and is only good for the day of the event. Coupon codes do not work with the ParkMobile application. The rate is normally $0.75/hour.
