Bernard Edwards Memeorial Golf Tournament
May 11, 2018 : 15th Annual Bernard L. Edwards Golf Tournament Benefits Ohio Southern’s Proctorville Center Park
Twenty-two golf teams participated in the 15th Annual Bernard L. Edwards Memorial Golf Tournament sponsored by Ohio University Southern.  Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the new Proctorville Center Park. The event was held at Huntington’s Guyan Golf and Country Club.
“We are blessed to have wonderful sponsors and so many terrific teams showing their support for our tournament year after year,” said Stephanie Burcham, Direcctor of the Proctorville Center and Co-Chair of the event. “The proceeds this year are earmarked for our Proctorville Center Park, which benefits our Southern Campus students as well as children and adults from the community,” Burcham said.
The $425,000 park project includes two regulation size soccer fields for use by community youth soccer leagues as well as by the soccer program in the Fairland Schools.  The park also includes a half-mile paved walking track named in honor of Ernie and Clorinda Hall, long-time supporters of the Proctorville Center.
Tournament participants enjoyed a variety of competitions on the course, including a putting contest and a $1 million dollar Hole in One contest as well as other significant prizes. The event is named in honor of long-time Southern Campus benefactor Bernard L. Edwards. Since the inaugural tournament in 2003, businesses, families and other groups from across the tri-state have taken part in the tournament, which is among the most competitive amateur charity tournaments in the region.
Winning teams include: 1st Place- Ashland, Inc.; 2nd Place- Hall Funeral Home; 3rd Place- River Park Hospital.  Also, 1st Place (gross score)- NECCO.
