Gen Ed Reform Updates
Below you will find all news and updates related to the Strategic Initiative of Realize General Education Reform
For the past 40 years, Ohio University undergraduates – regardless of their major or location – have participated in a shared learning experience, completing general education requirements designed to lay the foundation for success after graduation. As OHIO moves fearlessly first into the future, the “tiers” of the University’s general education program will soon become “bricks,” building on an educational experience rooted in the liberal arts but poised to meet the needs of the 21st century.
On Monday, February 3, Ohio University’s Faculty Senate voted to approve a Resolution to Reimagine General Education. The Faculty Senate vote followed a similar resolution approving the reimagined general education passed by the University Curriculum Council on January 21, 2020, and a resolution endorsing a reimagined general education pass by the Student Senate in December 2019. The Resolution approved revisions to OHIO’s general education statements of intent and curriculum.
